So, we think Virginia is bad? Here is my own experience with traffic fines here in NJ. Garden State Parkway, Friday, 5:30 PM rush hour, Union, NJ toll. Went through the non-exact change booth and was forced off the road onto the shoulder due to heavy traffic.. Traveled about 50 yards trying to get back on the highway but was flagged over by a town cop (which I thought was strange) parked at the Union Exit. He gave me a ticket for driving on the shoulder. Two weeks later, I got a letter from a lawyer saying I would get at least 5 points on my drivers licences, which would drive up my auto insurance. He, however, could help. Six weeks later I went to court: $1,500 in legal expenses, $300 in court fees and fines and 5 years probation...since I was a first time offender. I shouldn't have listened to that lawyer. Then, maybe, I would have done some hard time in Rahway State Pen. and come out an ex-con. Then I could have made an offer to Paris Hilton to co-author a book with me. I even have a title; How to Survive in America With a Record. Cached copy until 5:02:02 AM
